OK...it's been oh so long since I have blogged. First of all this blog set up on google sometimes ticks me off.
Second now I find I have a very little time to blog. But that is going to change. I really like blogging and just putting thoughts down.
I attended a meeting the other night in town. I am on the Bicentennial Committee and we are trying to get things together for the celebration which will take place next year in 2014.
A lot of good ideas are flowing and now they are trying to solidify them so they come together and we have the plans in front of us to go by.
I guess I better bring you up on my book. It was first told to me that the publisher liked it but it needed some "small amount" of tweaking. OK ..I understood that. So I tweaked it and re did it and re submitted to the publisher.
Then I get a second rejection and the reason was because it was back and forth between first and third person. So OK...tweak again and resubmit. And along came rejection number three. Only this time they said they had a very hard time following the story. But the only thing I tweaked on it was some of the letters had to be capitalized and punctuations. So I have placed that book on that back burner for later submission. My second book is done and I am really looking it over very carefully and making sure all the I's are dotted and T's crossed.
I was thing about the story tellers who verbally tell their stories. Do they stop and think "Am I speaking in first or third person?" I don't think so. I feel if you tell a good story whether first person or third person you are either going to grab a person's interest or your not.
I think a lot of these people who "start up" their own publishing companies loose sight of what the values are. You should want to help a person and be "VERY" truthful with them. Don't say you like the story very much and it just needs a little tweaking and then later say "well it needs more tweaking " before finally saying you can't follow it. Come on...give us some credit.
I haven't given up and I don't take rejection to heart. I know I tell a good story. I have had people who are not in the literary field read my writings and tell me they are really good. And that is what matters to me.
So now the weekend is upon us and we are waiting for the relief from this heat phase. I am looking over my writing again and will send it to my literary agent and just wait, but now dwell on it. I have too many other things I must do.
So until later
Happy writing.
